Begin With The End In Mind
You have decided that now is the time to have Kathryn do portraits of your family, but have you considered what are you going to do with them?
At PBK we begin with the end in mind. This means that, well before your photo session, you have come to meet Kathryn at the studio for a close look at all the beautiful options available and a discussion about how you envision these photos will hang in your home.
Whether it's a single iconic portrait, a wall combining old and new (we can do this for you!) or one of PBK's signature wall galleries, knowing what you are drawn to helps us cater your photo session more specifically.
The Pre Session Consultation
This short meeting with Kathryn takes place at the studio and is your opportunity to get all of your questions answered, plan the wardrobe, and discuss the type of fine art that Kathryn will create for your home.
These are the questions most families have :
What should we wear?
What type of investment are we looking at for photos?
Can we bring my parents/our dog/our nanny/my child’s favourite stuffed bear?
We will cover it all, and we can’t wait to meet you!
Don't forget to bring photos of the walls in your home so that you and Kathryn can discuss your décor, your artistic taste, and your budget. Kathryn will create plans for the perfect collection of fine art portraits of your family, hung on your wall for you to enjoy everyday.
Your Photo Session
Kathryn has been photographing families professionally since opening her studio in 1999. She is also a mom of two, and knows first hand how stressful it can be to have everyone well-rested, in the right mood and having a good hair day on the day of your family photo session! Rest assured that in her calm, unhurried, professional way, Kathryn will bring out the best in all of you and have you asking yourself what you were so worried about.
Our hope for you is that this will be a day of celebration, and that the experience of having your family photographed today is a memory you will cherish as much as you do the portraits themselves.
Your View + Order Appointment
1-2 weeks after your photo session you will come back to the studio for a view+order appointment with Kathryn. This is the day your complete order will be placed, so we highly encourage you to have all decision-makers present.
Now is the time to cry over how gorgeous these photos of your children are and decide how to best hang them in your home so you can enjoy them every single day. Kathryn will guide you through this process based on the discussion you had at the consultation to achieve your vision for your family portraits.
Delivery + Installation
After investing in this collection of beautiful portraits, we highly recommend the final step of having us install it on the wall for you, spaced and balanced to perfection. All that is left to do now is stand back, and enjoy the view.
Looking Forward To The Next Time
After a year or two you will look at your portraits and realize that your children have once again grown and changed, and it's time for new photos. It is Kathryn's greatest pleasure as a photographer to watch your family grow through the years, capturing your children as newborns, then toddlers, then school-aged and teens.
