PBK sees the project through from the initial consultation stages to wall design, to the portrait session, to the overseeing every detail of large format printing and framing, and installation.

Creative Consultation

At PBK we begin with the end in mind. This means, well before your family portrait session, you have come to meet Kathryn at the studio for a close look at all the beautiful fine art options available and a discussion about how you envision these photos will hang in your home. If you work with an interior designer, Kathryn will liaise with them to ensure that the art she is creating for you is in line with the décor of your home.

Using photos of the walls of your home, Kathryn will factor in your décor, your artistic taste and your budget to create the perfect collection of portraits for your family, hung on your wall to enjoy everyday.

The Portrait Session

Once the fine art plan has been decided on, it’s time for the fun part!

Kathryn has been photographing families professionally since opening her studio in 1999. She is also a mom of two, and knows first hand how stressful it can be to have everyone well-rested, in the right mood and having a good hair day on the day of your family portrait session! Rest assured that in her calm, unhurried, professional way, Kathryn will bring out the best in all of you and have you asking yourself what you were so worried about.

Our hope for you is that this will be a day of celebration, and that the experience of having your family photographed today is a memory you will cherish as much as you do the portraits themselves.

MEET WITH KATHRYN

View + Order

1-2 weeks after your photo session, you’ll come back to the studio for a view+order appointment with Kathryn. Now is the time to cry over how gorgeous these photos of your children are, as you see your PBK design plan come to life. Kathryn will have wall and album designs ready for you based on what you discussed at your creative consultation.
Your complete order will be placed at this meeting, so we highly encourage you to have all decision-makers present.

GET STARTED

Production

Once your order is placed, we oversee every step of the production process, ensuring that the project is perfect in every way and delivered on time. Our in-house production team takes care of design, editing and retouching, and we use a local Vancouver framer for all of our projects. Whether you are having PBK create wall art or produce albums, we have chosen the best archival materials and take the time to design custom work that best compliments the images you’ve chosen. Our family portraits are printed using archival pigment inks on cotton rag papers, framed to museum specifications using Italian wood moldings and UV anti-reflective glass. Our gallery wraps are printed using archival pigment inks on canvas.
